A Study on the Improvement of Design Ability through Specialized Pattern Education

Design activity is a human cultural activity. It goes beyond a means to invigorate an economic activity as before, a cultural activities settle in a living. In addition, a traditional design is a practical art to be commonly shared and used in actual life, whose value can be said to be great.

The ultimate purpose of this article is to bring up the awareness to our tradition by assimilating the formative and symbolic characteristics an infinitely functional traditional pattern has into the sense of modern aesthetics and concept of value. And this paper pursued to focus on implanting the our national consciousness in a modern design through the education of the traditional pattern. To achieve this goal, this researcher taught the various characteristics of the traditional pattern and its symbolism on the study scene and made the actual making of it. This was the intention to plant the attachment to ours. The results obtained through these sets of works can be summarized as follows.

This researcher could have a chance to have concern on and understand patterns based on the understanding of what is the traditional find art and what significance it has to us.

·To explore the specific patterns of traditional art materials and apply them to learning.

·To pursue the formative and symbolic characteristics of the traditional pattern and the technique of pattern creation.

·To utilize a variety of expressive techniques.

·To enjoy making much more new traditional things by using traditional and modern techniques

Thus, this researcher newly felt that the teaching of traditional patterns through various methods is not a simple level to ascertain ours, but a new teaching method fit for a modern sense.
