Abstract
Full Opening of Japanese Popular Culture and Korean Broadcasting Industry

The purpose of this study is to analyze the impacts of opening of Japanese popular culture on Korean broadcasting industry and to find a solution for Korean broadcasting industry to have competitiveness in the international TV program market. In order to achieve the above, the important studies we have to make are as follows: first, what are the problems of Korean TV programs in the international trade; second, analizing the historical background of Korean broadcasting from the Japanese influence since Japanese ruling period, and the characteristics of Japanese TV programs ; and finally, what are the economical and cultural effects on Korean broadcasting industry from opening of Japanese popular culture?
In conclusion, the most important matter is how we can have competitiveness in the era of free cross-border of TV program. The legal and institutional support from the government is essential in order to achieve our goals. The government should guarantee the freedom of creativity and autonomy of broadcasting. It also needs to complement the related laws and regulations, to settle the functions and roles among the relevant government offices, and to give financial and tax support. Simultaneously, program providers should make various devises and plans to reinforce the competitiveness, develop human resources, and take a resolute investment and strategic coalition.
