A Study on the NEON SIGN as a medium of night advertisement

Nowadays, human beings have changed their way of life because of plenty time and finance in reserve, thank to the industrial development as well as the urban cities have been changing their scale and shape according to mechanization.

In this country, after cancellation of curfew, our leisure time to lead an active life and economical surplus brought us to change way of 1iving. In other words, we works at day time and we become to take a shopping and enjoy our life under the splendid lighting at night.

Therefore, night lighting has become an indispensible element in urban city life.

Also, we have a big international events ahead, the authorities concerned have revered neonsign which banned last about decades because neonsign makes a major function to influence upon night city aesthetics. But, if we take into consideration that signboard has spoiled the beauty of city as a sight pollution for a long time. And so, we also worry about neonsign installed has come to a sight pollution factors due to technical difficulty and lacking of know how.

Therefore , this thesis draws up a plan to active and develop neonsign which needs a necessity of good design as a night advertising medium or composing factor in city aesthetics.

So, chapter I contains that developing Process, kinds of neonsign and special featues.

In chapter 2 discusses the electricity consumption rate comparing neonsign wtih other bulb in side of color, brightness, and transparency. Chapter 3 goods advertisement, enterprise PR as night advertising medium and usefulness of neonsign as P.O.P advertisement, also studied about effect and merit of city beautification and tourist resources.

In chapter 4 investigates our Present condition of neonsign in Young-Dong, Meoung-Dong and Itaewon, grasps the feature of neon and molding.

Finally, chaplet 5 describes a present problem about neonsign base in contents in previos chapter and draws a plan to minimize current problem installing the neonsign and to develop neonsign after retrospecting the necessity of it.
